Continue reading to discover available options, their ratings, and which model might be the best fit for your needs.
Nissan Frontier: Compact and Capable
The mid-sized Nissan Frontier offers an electric sliding glass moonroof with a tilt feature, but it’s only available on select models. For example, it’s optional on the SV trim and standard on the PRO-4X, but only for crew cab models.
As with other trucks on our list, only front-seat passengers benefit from the extra light provided by the moonroof, while rear passengers receive only a slight increase in light. Although the Frontier has been on the market for some time, it might be worth considering if you’re looking for a mid-size truck with off-road capabilities and a sunroof.
Toyota Tundra: Spacious and Versatile
The full-size Toyota Tundra comes with an electric tilt and slide moonroof with a sliding sunshade, but it’s only available on higher-end trims like the Limited, Platinum, and the premium 1794 Edition, and only on CrewMax models.
The Tundra’s moonroof is designed to cover only the front-seat occupants, and its presence also impacts the console and its storage space. The Tundra has been on the market for a while, with only minor refreshes. A new model is expected for the 2021 model year, which may include a larger moonroof option, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Ram 2500 and 3500: Heavy-Duty Options
Ram offers a power sunroof on its heavy-duty full-size 2500 and 3500 trucks in crew-cab and Mega Cab configurations across SLT, Big Horn, Laramie (and Laramie Longhorn), and Limited trims. A sunroof is also available on the Power Wagon, an off-road-oriented variant of the heavy-duty Ram.
The current heavy-duty Rams only offer a conventional sunroof for front-seat passengers. A redesigned heavy-duty Ram is expected to debut for the 2020 model year, potentially featuring a dual-pane moonroof similar to the RAM 1500, along with several other updates.
